With “Bapi Bari Jaa” the directorial team of
Sudeshna and Abhijeet introduces to us a bunch of new actors. The film is a
youth-centric one. There is no well-known artiste in this movie, and that is
the ‘hatke’ factor in the movie.
Arjun and Mimi have already became popular among
household audience, courtesy the bengali serial of Rituparno Ghosh “Gaaner
Opare”. Arjun plays the role of Bapi, the term ‘bapi’ is often used to imply a
person who has not been able to do anything in life properly – a hopeless
character. Well, in the movie, this ‘Bapi’ one day thinks of changing himself
entirely and also to get a girl friend in his life.
The film focuses on the lives of youngsters – their
love life, sex life, and problems which erode their mentality and simplicity.
Cant say, the idea of the film is innovative, because a lot many of film makers
have attempted to films on such topic. However, the film’s story is relatively
fresh. And hope, Abhijeet and Sudeshna creates something nice like they did
“Cross Connection” in the past.
